Biography
My love for nature extends beyond the crags into the embrace of the ocean. I grew up on the coast - swimming and kayaking - but recently found pieces of myself in the mountains. Thankfully the mountains offer the best of both worlds - alpine lakes are a bit colder, sure, but the sunny skies and fresh winds are just as welcoming.
The ocean and mountains serve as a source of inspiration and grounding force. When I found seaside crags that brought both elements together, I discovered how combining them made them more than the sum of their parts. They weave together just as much as community and climbing. From the beginning of my climbing journey, I was intentional about involving the Black Oakland community in the local gyms. Now, my goal is to bring that same community power outdoors through Black Rock Collective.
I aim to weave together these parts of my life, highlighting the shared joy, sense of wonder, and healing that community and climbing bring. By embracing the interplay of community and climbing, just like the oceans and mountains, I aspire to bring power of the outdoors to those whose ancestors had exactly what we all crave today — a connection to nature.
