Biography

blue underline

Hi, I’m John Nguyen! I began my climbing journey in May 2019 after being inspired by climbing movies like The Dawn Wall and Free Solo. Since then, climbing is all that goes on in my mind and my love for it grows everyday. Being a well rounded climber is important to me, I enjoy sport and trad climbing a ton but bouldering and splitter cracks are my true love. Getting into climbing improved my mental health immensely and is largely why I believe it’s the best decision I’ve made for myself. I am too grateful for this sport because it has allowed me to meet some of the most incredible people from all walks of life. Taking people climbing outside and teaching them how to do so safely is enjoyable for me and is why I aspire to become a guide. Something I would like to work towards is advocating more for underrepresented groups within the climbing community. For personal climbing goals I’d like to free as much of The Nose as I can, be able to boulder 8A sport and crack climb 8a!
