We are excited to announce the launch of our first ever “SCARPA Stands for Guiding Growth - Athlete Mentorship Initiative.” Applications for the Athlete Mentorship Initiative are being accepted until January 15, 2021. The goal of this program is to connect and engage the SCARPA Athlete team with accomplished athletes from historically marginalized communities, who are aspiring to take their sport or career to the next level. With a mission of connecting mentors with mentees focused on the sports that SCARPA serves to provide participants with opportunities for athletic and career development as well as personal and professional growth. The vision and purpose of SCARPA Stands for Guiding Growth and the Athlete Mentorship Initiative is to help create a more inclusive and diverse community of athletes within Climbing and Outdoor sports.
SCARPA is reaching out to historically marginalized and underserved populations including, but not limited to, the BIPOC, LGBTQ, and Adaptive/Disabled communities of climbers, skiers, mountaineers, and trail runners who are looking to evolve their skills and sport to a new level of excellence. SCARPA will pair the chosen mentees with a SCARPA athlete who can help guide them in the right direction towards achieving their specific goals. So, if the mentees wish to advance their climbing, skiing or trail running ability in general or gain a specific skill set such as, growing their social media following, establishing connections in the industry, building brand partnerships, transitioning their athletic interests into a career, or learning how to work with non-profit organizations, this program is designed to help them do that. SCARPA will use their community of experts to educate and empower the mentees about the steps to take to accomplish these ambitions, while encouraging all who participate to give back to others in their community, after they finish.
The program will consist of one-on-one monthly virtual meet-ups, weekly mentor-mentee communication, SCARPA athlete led focus groups, Outdoor Industry community panels, CEO round tables and a menu of other events and presentations. SCARPA will also provide resources and education focused on goal setting, communication development, equity and inclusion subjects and more.
If you or someone you know would be a good fit for this program and wants to learn from professional athletes how to excel to the highest level of an outdoor sports discipline, please see the link below for more information and for details about how to apply.
