SUSTAINABILITY

Innovation and tradition share equally deep roots at SCARPA, which to this day remains a family owned company with its headquarters and performance footwear manufacturing facilities in the same regions of northern Italy where it got its start over 80 years ago in 1938. Founded in the foothills of the Dolomite Mountains, in the Asolo / Montebelluna region, an area long known for its quality, handcrafted footwear, SCARPA’s initial mission was to bring together all the best shoemakers in the Asolo area toward the goal of producing the best footwear anywhere. That part of the mission remains unchanged to this day, along with a continuously increasing focus on sustainability efforts. We believe strongly in our responsibility to operate in a sustainable and ethical manner, and our journey of continuous improvement here is well under way. While we will never achieve perfection in these areas, we are committed to pushing ourselves to do better, every day, every season, every year. We invite you to follow along, and support us as we travel down this path.

We are currently working towards becoming a Certified Benefit Corporation. We are also trying to share more details about the planet friendly elements in our products. Look for the green text which highlights planet friendly choices in product components and materials, like making many of our ski boots from Castor bean oil vs. petroleum, first done in 2009.

PLANET FRIENDLY

The Planet Friendly designation appears on products designed to tread lighter on the planet, using eco-friendly resources and processes like recycled content materials, and plant-based plastics. In 2025, we have a total of 82 Planet friendly products, which is approximately 63% of our footwear offering. Examples:

  • Pebax® RNew® – plant based plastic (sourced from Castor bean oil) used in ski boots
  • Eco Leather – leather produced with significantly reduced water use and by renewable energy; used in some climbing shoes
  • Recycled content materials – laces, linings, footbeds and other materials incorporating recycled content; used in multiple categories (Approach, Trail, Trail Running, Lifestyle)
