SURROUND RUBBER TENSION (SRT)

PRESSURE ABSORBING FIT (PAF) SYSTEM

AF (Pressure Absorbing Fit) is an innovative heel system that helps both spread the force of the heel tension and increase the fit of the heel. The Active Rand rubber is interrupted behind the heel to reduce pressure on the achilles tendon and connected with 2mm XS GRIP2 rubber, that works like a bridge and allows full adaption to the shape of the heel while still providing dynamic forward pressure to focus power over the big toe. The holes on the side of the heel indicate the tension applied, which varies between 1 hole for light tension, 2 holes for mid tension and 3 holes for strong tension.
SURROUND RUBBER TENSION (SRT)

SURROUND RUBBER TENSION (SRT)

SRT is a layer of our ultra-soft M50 rubber that wraps around the forefoot and translates the power directly to the tips of the toes. It also provides maximum friction and sensitivity for toe-hooking. Climbing with soft shoes improves one’s climbing style and naturally strengthens toe power. The total freedom of foot placement stimulates a faster and more dynamic movement on rock or plastic.

    Fantastic All-Around Gym Shoe

Most of the other reviews I've read about this shoe are accurate. The Chimera is a lightweight, tight, flexible, do-it-all, technical shoe. Definitely the best shoe model I have worn so far. One thing I don't see in the other reviews though, is how good-looking they are. I get complements at the gym anytime I put them on, and people ask if they can hold them for a better view. I know looks are a subjective opinion, but these shoes look good, are of high-quality build, and work extremely well in climbing - at least for me.

    Disappointing fit

There was too much volume through the arch and heel at one size down (39) from my street shoe (EU 40-41), and smaller sizes were too short-- yet the heels still slipped. I was hoping the lace system would compensate for the insecure fit but w/ maximum lace closure the shoes were still too loose. I can't really comment on the quality since I returned them. The price seems par for the course.

    Sensitive, Nice Edge

Really like the shoe, it has a nice edge in the toe for technical climbing and the it’s sensitive, which I prefer. Have to size down a bit to get the heel to fit, but that might be a me problem.

    My Personal Favorite

This is simply the best shoe I've ever worn. I wear these for all kinds of climbs. I've tried to wear other Scarpa shoes for cracks and long routes and I seem to be wasting time and money, because these out preform all the other Scarpa shoes . I got these because they are the best for front toe edging in steep limestone cave routes, but they actually climb all angles great. They are also amazing at smearing on 5.12 low angle gray limestone roots, which really surprised me. I tried other shoes that were supposed to be great smearing shoes, but didn't compare to these shoes. If you want a great shoe for long roots, just buy a pair a full size bigger that your cave climbing pair. I really can't say anything bad about these amazing shoes. They fit so well I don't need to size down too much. I wear a 44 (10.5) street shoe. I can squeeze into a size 43 but there is really no need. Thats as small as I can go without bending my toes too much. My favorite size is 43.5 for great comfort and performance. I have one pair size 44 for when I need to keep them on for long periods of time like on long roots. That works great as long as the climbing isn't too technical. You can try many different shoes here for many different styles of climbing, or you can just buy these Chimera and call it good. Take my word for it. These beat all others in all areas. I wouldn't have thought that possible with such a down turned shoe style, but these are the best smearing shoes I've ever tried, and I've…

    versatile shoe

My go to all around shoe for gym climbing and competition climbing. The Chimera is a perfect blend of soft, sock like climbing shoe similar to the drago, veloce, and furia but with more control and stiffness in the big toe specifically so its possible to stand on smaller footholds with confidence. The laces allow for a tighter more secure fit for me that the drago so that is why I prefer them to the drago. I wear an 11 street shoe and size down to a 42, although I like my shoes very tight. Great shoe if you are looking for competition/gym performance in a range of styles.
