The new INSTINCT S is the most flexible model in the Instinct family, designed specifically for steep sport climbing, bouldering and training. Our new CTS (Combined Tension System) technology offers the big toe precision you expect from the Instinct family, but also incorporates the elasticated fit and tension of M50 rubber across the top of the foot providing maximum toe hooking capabilities and increased sensitivity while the firm Ilga rubber wraps up and over the inside of the foot for support. The full microfiber upper utilizes our RFB technology to ensure a snug, secure fit across the instep for the life of the shoe while the heel cup features PAF for comfort as well as both M50 and XS Grip2 rubber for high heel hook friction. CTS TENSION SYSTEM
The CTS is a combination of elastic tension rubber that controls the length of the shoe and soft high friction rubber that surrounds the forefoot. The soft M50 rubber evenly distributes power around the toe area and reduces pressure on the little toes. The harder tension rubber supports the big toe area and inside edging zone and is directly connected to the heel. The result is outstanding strength and precision on small footholds.
REINFORCED ELASTIC BAND (REB)
Reinforced Elastic Band is a technology used exclusively on the Instinct SR. Elasticated rubber is applied to the stretch gauntlet over the forefoot providing a snug performance fit while also preventing the upper from overstretching.

Had these shoes for a couple months, used them indoors and out (predominantly sandstone bouldering, some sport too) and while I thought they were a capable slipper, with performance minded features, for me they sit between two niches: a comfy slipper, and sending shoe, without having the best qualities of either. I went down to size eu 40.5 (street shoe 41.5) and found that while my heel would stay mostly in the shoe even during very aggressive heel hooks, they weren't comfortable enough to leave on for a considerable amount of time (over 10/15 min) and the shoe felt extra tight around the midpoint/ball of my foot compared to my instinct VSW. At the end of the day ended up selling them because when I want a slipper I want something comfy for long gym climbing sessions, and when I want to send I reach for my VSW with the extra security of the strap for aggressive heel hooking without the rest of the shoe needing to be uncomfortably tight. All in all a solid all rounder, but doesn't tick enough boxes for me to hang onto them

I use this for sport climbing, bouldering, and outdoor climbing for single pitch and even on long routes. You can pull it off at belays and have the performance that you need on tiny edges to heel hooks. Whether you size it snug or comfy the performance is comes out of the excellent shoe design.

This October will be 10 years of climbing for me, and I’ve tried a lot of different shoes. These are some of the best climbing shoes I’ve ever worn. If you nail the sizing you will be in love with the shoe quickly.
